Mike Dixon

Mike Dixon is a musical supervisor, musical director, conductor, arranger and composer whose career spans West End theatre, television, radio and major live events. His credits include We Will Rock You, The Bodyguard, Mrs Henderson Presents, Grease and Jesus Christ Superstar. His recording work includes Seven by Tony Banks with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and The Performance with Dame Shirley Bassey.

Mike and Barney host Act One’s conversations with performers and creatives. Together, they bring the questions back to the working life around the show: the preparation, the decisions and the people who make it happen.

Barney Ashworth

Barney Ashworth is a musical director, musical supervisor and pianist whose work spans the West End, UK and international tours, television and musical theatre training.

His musical director and associate credits include Manhattan Parisienne (The Other Palace), Sunny Afternoon (UK tour), Mrs Henderson Presents (Noel Coward), Oh What a Lovely War (UK tour), Name That Tune (ITV), Spiral (China), and Grease (UK tour).

His workshop work includes The Infidel, Devil’s Advocate The Musical and In Touch.

As musical supervisor, Barney’s credits include Rock of Ages (UK Tour) and Movies and Musicals (Apollo Victoria). His assistant musical director credits include How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Royal Festival Hall), SHOUT! (The Arts), This Is Elvis! (Bill Kenwright UK tour), and Curtains (Arts Educational). He has held instrumental chairs on The Lion King (Lyceum), CATS (UK tour), Never Forget (Savoy), Blood Brothers (Phoenix and UK tour), and Hi-De-Hi! (UK tour).

Barney has worked as an audition pianist for Pippa Ailion, David Grindrod, Jim Arnold, Debbie O’Brien, Anne Vosser, Will Burton, Kenny Wax and the National Theatre.

His educational work includes Arts Educational School London, Guildford School of Acting, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, RADA, the MTA, Associated Studios, Trinity College of Music and Millennium Performing Arts.
